Calling all pop fans! The Steps musical Here & Now is coming to Milton Keynes

Expect to get your party on when Here and Now, a new musical based on the songs of Steps, brings jukebox joy to Milton Keynes Theatre this spring.

Happiness is surely only a heartbeat away when you feel the beat of, and move your feet to, the anthems of a multi-million-selling pop phenomenon. Steps fans had better get in line and prepare for some foot kickin’, finger clickin’, leather slappin’, hand clappin’…

It’s Friday night and the vibe is right as Caz and her friends dream of the perfect summer of love. But Caz soon discovers that her “happy ever after” is a lie and all the gang’s attempts at embracing romance prove to be a total tragedy.

Will love ever get a hold on their hearts? Should they take a chance on a happy ending? Step this way for what promises to be a feel-good celebration of love and friendship.

Steps (Claire Richards, Faye Tozer, Ian ‘H’ Watkins, Lee Latchford-Evans and Lisa Scott-Lee) are the UK’s most successful mixed-gender pop group of all time.

Their first single was 1997 line-dancing track ‘5, 6, 7, 8’. Subsequent hits included ‘Tragedy/Heartbeat’ (1998), ‘One For Sorrow’ (1998), ‘Better Best Forgotten’ (1998), ‘Last Thing On My Mind’ (1998), ‘Love's Got A Hold On My Heart’ (1999), ‘Stomp’ (2000), ‘Chain Reaction’ (2001) and many more. They celebrated their twenty-fifth anniversary, in 2022, with the release of their Platinum Collection album, which reached number one. This meant Steps joined ABBA, the Rolling Stones and Stereophonics as the only groups in UK history to have number one albums in four consecutive decades.

Here and Now is produced by Steps themselves with pop legend Pete Waterman, written by Shaun Kitchener (Hollyoaks) and directed by Rachel Kavanaugh (The Great British Bake Off Musical). Theatregoers should expect a plot that twists, turns and bops around a catalogue of catchy bangers.

Here and Now is at Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 31 March to Saturday 4 April.
