There will be a nature theme for half term (May 25-29) at Milton Keynes Museum with a week of Curious Creatures & Garden Treasures to investigate.
The Museum’s Nature Trail is a lovely stroll through the ‘hidden’ green space, and an opportunity to discover the critters and creatures going about their business alongside us.
In the garden, little minds will be kept busy learning about the origins of our food and where in the world they came from.
While there, you can also investigate the lives of our wriggly worms, with a visit to the wormery where you can learn all about their important role in nature.
Over in the Victorian Garden, young plant lovers can touch and smell aromatics, and who knows - a visit there might plant the seeds for their own green fingered adventure!
Kids can also get creative by painting pebbles, one of the added activities for the week.
A trip to visit the famous Concrete Cows is the perfect opportunity for a moo-vellous photo memento of your visit, and don’t forget to go and see the oldest resident of Milton Keynes - Iggy the Ichthyosaur - who is around 180 million years old!
Should the sun go on holiday, rain won’t stop the fun, with heaps of things happening inside; play musical instruments in the Victorian farmhouse, make toast in front of the fire in the kitchen or pop into the old Post Office to buy some old fashioned sweets.
When you’ve experienced the old air raid shelter, how about a game of mini golf?
“We’ve put together a lovely programme that will inspire youngsters on the benefits of nature, and might just inspire parents, too!” said deputy Museum Director Surbhi Bhambri, “As with everything we do, interaction is key here.
"Children don’t want to look but not touch, and we make the Museum as hands-on as possible.
“There’s always something new to enjoy, and we hope that you will join us to engage with all that is on offer.”
If you are looking to spark imaginations and keep the half term break from becoming a bore, a visit to the Museum is the perfect way to relax and have fun.
